World-class Kalaignar Library in Trichy – Foundation stone laying ceremony
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri M.K. Stalin (21.03.2025) laid the foundation stone of a world-class Kalaignar Library and Knowledge Centre in Tiruchirappalli at an estimated cost of Rs. 290 crores through video conferencing from the Chief Secretariat.
Library facilities
- Total area: 19.7 crore sq ft across 8 floors
- Books & e-books: Estimated at Rs. 50 crore
- Arenas: 1,000-seat auditorium, children’s cinema, robotics centre, artificial intelligence research centre
- Technical facilities: Elevators, escalators, fire fighting, air conditioning, solar panels
- Books: World Tamil literature, ancient Tamil books, women’s studies, medicine, engineering, law, competitive exams, etc.
Prominent figures who attended the ceremony
- Ministers Mr. K. Nehru, Mr. E.V. Velu, Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, District Collector, Corporation Mayor and many others.
- This huge library is set to become the knowledge center of Tamil Nadu.
